Have we lost the art of making ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™š๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ? Now, I know what you are thinking. And this isn't about blood sacrifices, not at the root anyway. It is actually in fact, all about ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป. There is so much happening in this weeks portion, that it really is hard to narrow down just one theme to share with you all. In these Chapters from Leviticus, we get to see the beginnings of what would become known as '๐™๐™๐™š ๐˜ฟ๐™–๐™ฎ ๐™ค๐™› ๐˜ผ๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™š๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ'. It is the ๏ผฏ๏ผฎ๏ผฅ day of the year, when the High Priest could enter into the most Holy place, to make atonement for himself and the people.

You see, day after day and year after year people were continually bringing sacrifices - guilt offerings, fellowship offerings, but these were all about the individual bringing them. However, on ๐˜ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ ๐˜’๐˜ช๐˜ฑ๐˜ฑ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ, the 'Day of Atonement', there was something more ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข๐™ข๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก happening. It begins with understanding what atonement was really about. You see, I have always just viewed atonement as a covering - almost like wrapping yourself in a blanket. This way when the LORD looks at you, He only sees the blanket, not the mess it's covering. ๐—•๐˜‚๐˜ ๐—œ ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜€ ๐˜„๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด. At it's core, the Hebraic understanding of atonement is about ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฝ. First, we must repent, or turn away from our sin. But then, we are to make amends to those our sin has hurt, and that includes GOD.

Have you ever really thought about how your sin affects Him? Going back to the blanket metaphor I gave earlier, it is important to stress that GOD can see ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ด๐—ต the blanket. Though our sin may not be seen by those around us, He never misses it. I can't even begin to imagine all of the ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ I have caused in my life, and then you multiply that by every single living person from Creation to now, wow. Just wow. Leviticus 16:16 points out how the Temple had to be cleansed, simply because it was abiding in the midst of those who sin, "๐˜๐˜ฆ ๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ฌ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ฆ, ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ถ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฑ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ด ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜๐˜ด๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ถ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ช๐˜ณ ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜จ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ช๐˜ณ ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ด; ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ถ๐˜ด ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฐ ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฉ ๐˜ข๐˜ฃ๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฉ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ด๐˜ต ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ช๐˜ณ ๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฑ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ด. " Every sin is a defilement upon the TEMPLE! Friends, WE ARE TO BE HIS TEMPLE!!

And even deeper still, the LORD set this day as a permanent statute. Every year, on this particular day, Israel (and those who joined themselves to Israel), must atone. " So how do we view this in light of Christ? Well, we know that He is our High Priest, who by His own blood entered the Most Holy Place of the Heavenly Temple, to atone for our sins. In other words, He made a way for our relationship with GOD to be restored. Our sin separated us - Christ is the only way to return to proper covenant/relationship. Hebrews 10:14 says, "๐—™๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฏ๐˜† ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐—ผ๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—›๐—ฒ ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜€ ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐˜๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ผ ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ." Do you see it? There is an order to things. We repent - atonement is made - the law of GOD (Torah) is then written upon our hearts that we may not sin against Him, and He remembers our sin and lawless deeds no more. Hallaleu-YAH!!

Which leads us into the second portion for this week. An interesting start as it begins with, "โ€œ๐—ฆ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ธ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ด๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—œ๐˜€๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฒ๐—น ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐˜๐—ผ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—บ, โ€˜๐—ฌ๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—น๐˜†, ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—œ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—š๐—ผ๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ๐—บ ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—น๐˜†. -๐—Ÿ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿต:๐Ÿฎ" The LORD, since the beginning of creation has divided - light from dark, clean from unclean, etc. He hasn't changed!!! Chapter 19 begins diving into what it means to ๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ท๐˜ฆ ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜ช๐˜จ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ as we are commanded to leave food in the fields for the poor, to not place a stumbling block before the blind, not to curse the deaf, we should not steal, lie, bear vengeance, etc. The LORD is calling His people, to not act as the world acts. A separation. In vs 30, 32 He reminds Israel of things like, "๐—ฌ๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ ๐— ๐˜† ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ต๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐— ๐˜† ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜†; ๐—œ ๐—ฎ๐—บ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ." โ€˜๐—ฌ๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐˜‚๐—ฝ ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜†๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ฑ, ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—š๐—ผ๐—ฑ; ๐—œ ๐—ฎ๐—บ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ.' It's almost like He is tying together loving our neighbor as part of how we love Him. Ha! ๐—ข๐—ณ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐—›๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐˜€!!

As I wrap this up with some of the final verses from our reading this week, I encourage you, be reminded once more that we are to be His Temple. Everything He did in the Torah, shows us the way of the New Covenant - every writer of the Bible was a Torah following believer of Yeshua / Christ!! Salvation isn't a one-time thing. Let me explain. We are saved - and continually being saved. Until this world passes away (and His enemies made His footstool) we are being sanctified. We live in a world full of impurities / sin. Sin separates us from GOD (sin is transgression/breaking the Torah 1 John 3:4!). He will not dwell in uncleanness (read Ezekiel). That is why atonement on the Temple was necessary - and ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜†. He wants to be in close proximity to His creation - to dwell among and within us. Are we doing what He requires so that He can?
