Join me as I share what the LORD showed me in the last two Torah portions. A simple 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 - 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵. As we begin in the story of Noah we will see a thread that will carry us throughout the rest of Scripture. A thread of what it is to be a people of 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁, walking by faith, versus people of the 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱, who walk by the flesh. Lets jump in!
While the story of Noah is a powerful one, full of the protection of GOD and a 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 being protected during the great flood, it isn't the story the LORD highlighted to me. Instead, further down into the Portion for Noah, we come to the story of the 𝘛𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘭 (𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘺𝘭𝘰𝘯).

There is so much packed into these few verses, friends. First - I want you to take note that all the earth used the same language and the same words. We know in and of itself that isn't a bad thing. I mean it makes communication so much easier when you can be on the 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 as those you are with, right? And the fact that the LORD uses this as the reason to say '𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢'. Hmmm. I also find it very interesting that in these passages we see those building the tower as one, use the same language as the LORD who says, "let's - or let us'. They are moving as one just as the LORD is One. Deut 6:4 says, "“𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗢 𝗜𝘀𝗿𝗮𝗲𝗹! 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗗 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗗 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲!" So why intervene?
Friends, take note of how they use the words 'let's / let us'. They are speaking 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵. They were building a city and a tower to establish their 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀. They were using 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀, which are man-made - not naturally occurring like stone. Think on this for a moment. In their own human imaginations (flesh) they were literally 𝗿𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 what the LORD had established / created, in order to establish themselves. I don't believe it is a coincidence that Yeshua is called our 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿 - 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲, do you? No human effort - no matter how grand, can compare to what the LORD has done. We see here a very vivid picture of 'self-reliance' over 'God-reliance'. No wonder the LORD had to confuse the language, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.
Did you know there is a promise found in Zeph 3:9 that says, "𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘦𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘦𝘤𝘩, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥." Shew that is good stuff!
And now on to 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮, the call to Abram to "Go Forth". Abram descended from the line of Shem, son of Noah and is called a '𝘏𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘸'. As his story begins we are going to see a line being drawn out for the people of 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁, both 𝙥𝙝𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 (those not born as direct physical descendants of Abram yet who put their 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗛 in the God of Abram/Abraham). This line will only get clearer as we continue throughout Scripture, so I felt it important to highlight here. The rest of Noah's sons also have lines coming from them, yet it is this line that is being called out from the greater story of all the world. To be sure, this is where the story of the covenant people of GOD is cemented. A people of faith. Identity friends. It all comes back to identity.
The LORD calls Abram out from his land and is given a covenant promise, to make him a 'great nation' and that he would be a blessing to all the families of the earth. Of course we know that Yeshua eventually comes from this line - talk about a blessing, friends!!! But the LORD also promises to give the full land where Abram now sojourns, to his descendants, FOREVER.
We later see in our story Lot (Abrams nephew) and Abram's workers disputing over the shared land. Due to the increasing number of flocks and herds, and in humility, Abram tells LOT to pick the portion of land he wants for himself and that he (Abram) will take the opposite land. Lot chooses the land near Sodom. Again, we see an image of man making a choice based on 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀. Lot saw the land - that it was good for flocks, and so he asked for the best portion. Side story here - that choice lands Lot in the place that will eventually be destroyed for its sin and idolatry. Isn't that how it always ends with our flesh? To be sure, that is exactly how it is prophesied to end for all flesh at enmity with GOD. Wowza. But as part of the Lot story, we also get to see Abram rescue him from an opposing king and come face to face with Melchizedek, King of Salem. We later read that Yeshua is a Priest 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 in the order of this King. (Hebrews 7:17) It is very interesting that when Abram meets Melchizedek, he is met with bread and wine. We know the significance of that as representing Yeshua, but maybe we missed that this was right after Abram received a covenant promise from GOD, therefore, also possibly representative of a 'covenant meal' to seal the deal, so to speak.
Jumping into Genesis 15 we see the LORD coming to Abram in a vision and promises him and heir by his own flesh. His offspring are compared to the number of stars in the sky. Vs. 6 says, Abram '𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗗 & 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀.' Faith people. Ya gotta have faith! The LORD makes an oath for the land of covenant and as Abram participates only in bringing the animals for the covenant, only a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch walk through the carcasses. Thus the LORD makes an oath against Himself, as there is no one higher by which to do so (Hebrews 6:13). This oath will be fulfilled because He who promised is FAITHFUL (Heb 10:23)!
At 99 years old the LORD came back to Abram to make covenant in regards to him becoming the 'father of many nations'. The LORD also changes his name to Abraham - and Sarai to Sarah. Here though we see a very interesting turn - Abram (and descendants/every male among him) has a part to play in the covenant. Gen 17:9-11 says, "𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘧𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘈𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘮, “𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘔𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘔𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱, 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘔𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶: 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘔𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶...." Abraham didn't just circumcise himself and Ishmael (son) - but all of his servants - those of his household. Goodness gracious, they now 𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝘾𝘼𝙍𝙍𝙔 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙎𝙄𝙂𝙉 𝙊𝙁 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝘾𝙊𝙑𝙀𝙉𝘼𝙉𝙏!!
Sit with me here for a moment, friends. Ishmael was circumcised, just as Abraham. He carried the 𝙎𝙄𝙂𝙉 of covenant, yet he was not had by faith, but again by human imagination (flesh). The LORD promised Abraham to bless Ishmael, too, but he was not the son of faith / of promise. We see an attitude by Ishmael and Hagar of mocking Isaac, and even Sarah. (Gen 16:4, 21:9) There is a lot I could say about how flesh and spirit are at war. But I think Galatians 5:16-25 does a great job of its own. We can now see the line of the covenant people will go from Abraham to Isaac (Gen 17:21). A separation.
Circumcision carries a huge role in the life of a believer. Or at least it should. And I am not talking necessarily about the physical sign of the 𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵, which only pertained to males, but about the call for all of GODs covenant people to circumcise themselves (Deut 10:16, Jeremiah 4:4) and the promise that the LORD himself will circumcise our hearts (Deut 30:6). Isn't it interesting that the 'seed' of man (flesh) is produced from the place of circumcision - and the 'seed' of faith is produced by what we believe in our hearts and counted as righteousness?!?!?! The sign of the covenant did 𝗡𝗢𝗧 secure the promise, only faith did that! The same is true for us today, friends '𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘤𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘶𝘵 𝘯𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘩 (𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭 3:3)' but that is not all. 1 John 3:9-10 says, "𝘕𝘰 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘯, 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘪𝘮; 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘪𝘯, 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥. 𝘉𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘣𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴: 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘯𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳."
So we see, as predicted in Gen 3:15, the war between the seed of woman (Yeshua was not born of man/flesh but by the Spirit) and the seed of the evil one. Yeshua, the WORD of God made flesh to redeem us from the curse of death, brought on by our 'practice of sin'. What is sin? Again, we see it laid out plainly, "sin is the transgression (breaking)of GODs Law/Torah" (1 John 3:4) The written Word. So what does this have to do with the wheat and tares as pictured below?
Well as I began to search the LORD on where this line of the seed of faith vs the seed of flesh needed to land, he dropped the words 'Parable of the Sower' in my spirit. As I read its words, I couldn't help but feel the confirmation of the Holy Spirit in what the LORD was sharing. (Please read the entirety of the Parable in Matthew 15) The Word has gone forth (from the beginning was the WORD, and yet it finds itself not all on good soil. Some in rocky places, some among thorns, some by the road. That seed, couldn't produce any fruit. Not lasting fruit. And then beginning in verse 24 of Matthew 15, we see the story of the 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁. You see it was important for us to know the enemy is also tossing out seed. Seed which is good for nothing. The image below is a check for us to see if we know the difference. One Kingdom, by faith, produces good works and carries the weight of Heaven upon it. The other is one of fruitless deeds, made in man's own image, which grows just like the wheat, side by side, yet will be burned in the end. Wow. Lord help us!
I will finish with just a few final thoughts. Children in a family speak the same language, and in Gods Kingdom, that is the language of love (though a pure literal language is being restored). Yeshua says in John 17:13-23 that He prays we will be ONE, so that the world may 'continually' believe that He was sent by God, by their WORD! And Paul echo's this in Philippians 2:1-4, "𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦 𝘣𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥, 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦, 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵, 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦. 𝘋𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘵, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴; 𝘥𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴." We are to wage war against our flesh - our vain imaginations - and by faith, trust in the WORD which was written and spoken and which came in the likeness of man. And by that same faith, we show we believe by what we do. (James 2:18)

The time for repentance is now. And it is for us all. Are you sure you aren't falling prey to the tares, friend? To Him belongs the glory, forever and ever! Amen.
