This week Moses is continuing his final counsel to the newly formed '𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚' of Israel, consisting of both the bloodline of Jacob/Israel but also the sojourner who has committed themselves to be in covenant with the God of Israel. At 120 years old, Moses declares he is 𝘯𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘰 (v.2), not because of his age, but because the LORD will not permit him to enter the Promised Land. He exhorts Israel (and his replacement, Joshua) to "𝘉𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘰𝘶𝘴, 𝘥𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮, 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘨𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘏𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶” (v.6) as he prepares them to take possession of the land.

What a journey it has been! From the redemption of Israel from Egypt, to wondering around the wilderness for 40 years, to standing at the very cusp of the Promise. I can't even begin to imagine how Moses must have felt, to only be able to see it from a distance, knowing he would not be allowed to 'go in'. And then the feelings of all of Israel, as they have long awaited the place of rest, the place flowing with milk and honey, with their enemies dispersed from among them, yet the one they had looked to as the '𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳' between themselves and GOD, would no longer be among them. We are talking about a lot of mixed feelings here, friends, a lot! Let's continue....

𝘚𝘰 𝘔𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘢𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘦𝘷𝘪 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘴𝘳𝘢𝘦𝘭. Though the 𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘴 [𝘚𝘶𝘬𝘬𝘰𝘵] occurs each year, here we see that it is only 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 at this feast that they are commanded to read aloud the 'law' [Torah], in the hearing of the people. Why? Leviticus 25:3-4 says, "𝕊𝕚𝕩 𝕪𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕤 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕤𝕙𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕤𝕠𝕨 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕗𝕚𝕖𝕝𝕕, 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕤𝕚𝕩 𝕪𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕤 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕤𝕙𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕡𝕣𝕦𝕟𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕧𝕚𝕟𝕖𝕪𝕒𝕣𝕕 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕘𝕒𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣 𝕚𝕟 𝕚𝕥𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕠𝕡, 𝕓𝕦𝕥 𝕕𝕦𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕤𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕙 𝕪𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕝𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕤𝕙𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕒 𝕤𝕒𝕓𝕓𝕒𝕥𝕙 𝕣𝕖𝕤𝕥, 𝕒 𝕤𝕒𝕓𝕓𝕒𝕥𝕙 𝕥𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕃𝕠𝕣𝕕; 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕤𝕙𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕟𝕠𝕥 𝕤𝕠𝕨 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕗𝕚𝕖𝕝𝕕 𝕟𝕠𝕣 𝕡𝕣𝕦𝕟𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕧𝕚𝕟𝕖𝕪𝕒𝕣𝕕." The seventh year would be a Sabbath year. It should be a reminder to all of Israel how the LORD removed the chains of bondage from them in Egypt and brought them to this place of plenty. It should also remind them of how they are to treat one another, in light of His goodness. Every 7th group of 7 years (on year 50) it would be a Jubilee year - a time when slaves are set free and land is returned to its owner! Debts would be cancelled!! Woohoo!! Bonus side note: It is also important to point out here that Scripture says, 𝘔𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴. There are some who would say there was an 'oral' Torah, or words Moses passed down only verbally which are to be observed today. That is simply not backed by Scripture. The LORD makes it very clear we are not to add to or take away from any of HIS WORDS in the Torah. (Deut 4:2) This is on both sides of the fence. Taking away from His WORD is just as bad as adding to it. What a responsibility we hold!! Do we grasp that?!?!?!?

But something else takes place during this weeks Scripture reading, which is really where I want to guide us today.

After delivering the Torah, the LORD calls Moses and Joshua to present themselves before Him, that He might 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 Joshua. As the pillar of cloud appeared, the LORD spoke to Moses these words, “𝘉𝘦𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴; 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥, 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘔𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘔𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘔𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘔𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮; 𝘴𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘺, ‘𝘐𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘶𝘴?’ 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘔𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘰, 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘥𝘴." - (vs 16-18)

As I read these words, my heart sank. The LORD is about to 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹 His promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, knowing His people would forsake Him and "𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘔𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮." Friends, there was 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 a time when the LORD believed His plan A failed, and so it was time to pull out plan B (when Christ came to redeem us from the curse of death). 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗔𝗟𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡! The Torah was not temporary. It was to be the instructions for how we were [AND ARE] to live with one another in wholehearted devotion to the Father! PERIOD. Moses knew of the Promised One - as did David, and all of our other 'Old Testament' heroes/'she-roes'. From Genesis (vs 3:15) the LORD had a plan of redemption for HIS people from death. What is death? Romans 6:23 tells us sin is. Know what His Torah is called? Life. One example is in an upcoming Portion (Deut 32:47) You see the LORD teaches us how to NOT sin against Him, that we may have life, abundantly. Christ came to redeem us from the curse that brought on out of disobedience to His commands. When you can finally see the whole story, shew, it is SOOOO worth shouting over!!

But that isn't all that the LORD showed me this week. One of Asher's readings for Bible this week comes from Ephesians 4. As we read over it, verse 17 leapt off the page at me. It reads, "𝙎𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙄 𝙨𝙖𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙢 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙙, 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠 𝙣𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 G͢e͢n͢t͢i͢l͢e͢s͢ 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠, 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙," Hold up. Paul is writing to a group of Gentiles, so why is he saying 'no longer walks just as the Gentiles?' When you look up the original word used for Gentiles in this text, its the Greek word 𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘴. Very interestingly 𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘴 has a meaning of 𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘦, 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘱. SO? Friends, Paul is reminding this new group of converts that though they may be of the 'bloodline' of Gentiles, they are no longer to consider themselves as such. Their tribe / their nation / their people group is now Israel, based on the grafting in that has now taken place in their lives through the Blood of Messiah!! Their lives should now mirror the work of that redemption by walking as the LORD commanded Israel by His Torah!!

Eph 4:22-24 says it this way, "𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘶𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘣𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩." Goodness Gracious! Are you being renewed, friend? Have you put off your old life in order to walk according to His covenant stipulations? Or like those of Israel the LORD told Moses about, have you played a harlot with a 'false' messiah? One who walks in 𝙡𝙖𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨? Oh friend, I was SOOO BLINDED, and I could not see. Not until I truly humbled myself and really asked the LORD to show me HIS truth. Not my version of it. No matter what it cost me, I had to know the truth. His Word is truth, friend. Yeshua is the Word made flesh, who showed us how we ought to live and walk.

Next week we begin the Festival of 'Booths' known as Sukkot. I love how someone said its the time of year when grown-ups get to build a fort to live in for a week, lol. I believe this is a year of redemption - a year of coming to the Sabbath and seeing it for what it truly is. A sign between us and our Father. A promise that one day soon and very soon, we will dwell together for eternity. I am so thankful we have the opportunity to start now, aren't you?!?!? To Him belongs the glory, forever and ever! Amen and Amen! #sabbath #Sukkot #redemption #bridesprice #wakeupsleepers #tribal #Torah #obedience #narrowway #ancientpath #covenant #Promises #Standing #SolidRock #theVoice #ministryofreconciliation #blessingsandcurses #dontbedeceived
