We are getting so close to the end of this Torah cycle! Next week we celebrate the first of the Fall Feasts, the Feast of Trumpets, followed by Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) shortly behind and ending with Sukkot / and the great Eighth Day. Each of them so significant in the life of a believer. Just as Christ fulfilled the Spring Feasts with His first coming, He shall fulfill the Fall ones with His second! How exciting to be on His calendar, looking forward to the time when we will dwell together, FOREVER! But let's not jump so far ahead that we miss what He has for us in this week's portion.
Can I say He never fails to challenge me?!?! He is so good that way. Never allowing His Word to become dull and lifeless, but instead breathing fresh wind upon each Word as only He can. Highlighting the things that HE sees as important for me, right now. And I feel like I am getting better at walking at His pace, not rushing ahead but focusing on the present. As I jumped into the verses for this week, I barely got into the second paragraph before I felt the tug to look closer. The verses He was highlighting are found in Deuteronomy 29:18.2 - 19 which reads, "𝘉𝘦𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘵, 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤, 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙩, 𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙞𝙢𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙞𝙣 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩, 𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜, ‘𝙄 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚, 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙗𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩.’ 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘰𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 [everything]. " Meditate on these verses for just a moment.
As I pondered what the LORD wanted me to see, it didn't take long before some familiar stories in the New Testament came to mind. Stories where Paul was having to address the issues of doctrine being shared by the party of the "𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻" and the issues they were causing among the new covenant members [gentiles], called the "𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱".

I really want you to focus in here where Paul uses the words, "𝙅𝙚𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙢𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝". Paul is himself a Jew - he would say a Jew among Jews [more properly a Hebrew among Hebrews], so what is the deal here? Was he indeed turning away from the faith just as some Pharisees feared? 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗔𝗧 𝗔𝗟𝗟! Paul was now drawing a line in what the LORD had taught from the very beginning, including the covenant in our verses for today, and the 'traditions' that had been layered on top of them, by many Jewish leaders. Many who had '𝘢 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘵', believing in their heart, ‘𝙄 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚, 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙗𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩.’ You see there were many who believed, and today still do, that just by doing the 'works of the law [including their additions and subtractions to/from it] keeps them 'safe', after-all they are from the 'bloodline' of the Nation of Israel. Yet, they have denied the true Messiah, walking in the 'stubborness' of their hearts. So what does this have to do with us?
Everything.
You see, our Portion doesn't end there. The LORD began with dealing with those who thought they would be safe, by walking stubbornly in their heart, just because they had entered the covenant. But as we get to Chapter 30, the LORD points out another key for His chosen people.

Friends, 𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 is part of the covenant. A stubborn heart can't submit to GOD, or His commands properly. Deut 30:6 tells us, "𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘴𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘴𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦. " But that happens 𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥 we turn back to Him, and His commands, in obedience and faith! We aren't adding 'works' to what Yeshua/Christ did, we have received the FREE gift of salvation, and entered into the 𝗦𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗧 as Moses was decreeing in our verses for today! Though we were not physically present, the WAY was already in motion for how we would join!!! We join by STANDING in that moment, just as those at first, and declaring our faith in the Messiah and our WILLINGNESS to walk in OBEDIENCE to HIS VOICE! (Which Praise be to Him, He had written down for US who were far-off!!)
Shew! Can I tell you what power there is in His Word! The power to 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 His good and perfect will, to show our love for Him as we walk in obedience to His commands, just as Yeshua even taught. His love language is obedience - that much He has made clear. So as I finish today's Portion, I want to end where we began. You see there is another verse in His Word that talks about '𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴'. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹. -𝟭 𝗖𝗼𝗿 𝟭𝟬
Are you standing, friend? It's no coincidence with this Portion arriving as we approach the Fall Feasts where repentance and atonement are highlighted. The key is to know what we should be repentant of. Get in His Word! For the days are quickly passing before that final Trumpet blast will sound. Praise be to GOD!! Amen and Amen!! #Torah #obedience #narrowway #ancientpath #covenant #Promises #Standing #SolidRock #theVoice #ministryofreconciliation #blessingsandcurses #dontbedeceived
